This is controlled by security, not all ADAM users will have access to this function.
If you find that a student does not have Text To Speech available and they have started the test, you will want to do two things.
- Turn on TTS on the student's session so TTS is available on the test they are currently taking ( this is done in the Proctor Dashboard).
- Turn on TTS on the student's user record so TTS is available on any future tests they take (this is done on in Rostering | Users ).
Enabling TTS on a Session
- Log into adamexam.com
- Navigate to Test Management | Administrations or Test Management | Deliveries
- Search for the Administration the student is taking
- Click on the Proctor Group link next to the Proctor Groups: label
- Search the Proctor Groups by the Student's name to find the Proctor Group and click on the Proctor Actions (right side of the proctor group row)
- This takes you into the Proctor Dashboard, so if this is the first time someone has viewed the Proctor Dashboard...you will need to enter a first name and last name...don't worry the actual proctor can change this later.
- Find the student in the Proctor Dashboard that either needs TTS modified. Use the toggle in the TTS column to enable or disable TTS.
- The student may need to refresh their browser or log out of the lockdown browser (get reseated) and log back into the test to get the TTS player.
Enabling TTS on the Student (not for Deliveries)
Activating TTS from the Proctor Dashboard is only affecting the student for a single session/test. Once you've taken care of the immediate issue to get the student testing with Text To Speech activated, you should go into the student's User record and make sure it is set with the TTS accommodation.
How do I add Text To Speech or other accommodations to a student?
If you found that TTS was already active on the student's User record and you are wondering why it wasn't active for the student during the test. There is a time delay between adding TTS to the student's User record and an update to the Administration.
